Third-party web and standalone Silly Tavern card editors: desune, Chub, GitHub tools

Part 3. Named tools appear often in search; not endorsements—rules live on each site/repo.

Web editors (e.g. desune.moe and similar)

Often: field editing in-browser, PNG export.

Good for: quick edits without ST running.

Privacy: uploading a file shares its contents with the server unless the tool clearly states local-only processing.

Host sites with editors (e.g. Chub.ai)

Often: edit, publish, download PNG/JSON.

Good for: people already browsing that catalog.

Watch: import compatibility with your ST build and V2/V3 claims—verify by importing a test copy (part 4).

Standalone GitHub editors (e.g. zer0thgear/character-card-editor)

Often: desktop or web builds advertising V2/V3 support.

Good for: file-first workflows, diffs, backups.

Do: read README, license, last commit—stale tools may drop new fields.

Sites that advertise “V3 export” (e.g. aicharactercards.com)

Treat “V3” as a label to verify, not magic—compare exported JSON against what your ST expects.

Back to Silly Tavern (verbs)

  1. Edit and export (PNG or JSON) from the third-party tool.
  2. Import into ST under Characters.
  3. New chat test; if it breaks, compare file size / JSON before vs after.
